The journey of the Forest of Faith begins with a vision—a vision to create a serene outdoor sanctuary that fosters spiritual reflection and prayer. Conceived by a talented local artist, the project draws inspiration from the natural beauty of the region, local wildlife, and historical figures such as Theodore Roosevelt. The artist’s intention was to create a space that not only serves as a place of contemplation.

Design

The design phase of the Forest of Faith involved translating the artist’s vision into tangible plans. The main path was envisioned to course through a “forest” of metallic trees with each leaf a honorarium. The path is flanked by the Stations of the Cross, leading to a large Crucifix feature at the end, symbolizing the culmination of the spiritual journey. Tributary paths, dedicated to the four Mysteries of the Holy Rosary, branch off to the southeast, offering additional spaces for meditation and prayer.

The artist’s designs for the Stations of the Cross, Rosary, and Crucifix features are all intricate all-metal fabrications, crafted to roughly human scale. These designs were meticulously planned, ensuring that each piece not only serves a spiritual purpose.

Fabrication

The fabrication process is where the artist’s craftsmanship truly shines. This technique involves meticulously layering pieces of metal to create depth, texture, and intricate details. The metallic trees, adorned with metal leaves, are designed to withstand the elements while maintaining their beauty and integrity.

The artist’s expertise in working with scrap metal and his ability to create art that is inspiring for reflection and meditation.

Bringing It All Together

The creative process will culminate in the installation of these meticulously crafted pieces within the Forest of Faith. The main path, Stations of the Cross, Crucifix feature, and Rosary paths will come together to form a prayer inspiring environment. The donor recognizing  plaques signify their sponsorship, and memorial, and make the forest of faith possible.
